Where are you from originally?

Originally I am from a town called Falmouth in south Cornwall and have only recently made the move up country

What drew you towards a career in recruitment?

I like the idea of a job where you get out what you put in, I like to know that the harder I work the more I can make. I was also attracted to the varied workload of a recruitment consultant and the office atmosphere where I can be tested more and use my initiative

What first attracted you to James Andrews?

I knew I wanted to work at James Andrews as soon as I came in for my sample day, I found everyone very friendly and really liked the office vibe. I also like how this company values its staff and has clear set avenues available for progression in the future

Why did you decide to seek a graduate role in Birmingham?

I moved to Birmingham in September 2019, the reason for the move was two-fold, firstly I chose Birmingham as my partner lives and works here as a  teacher; secondly I moved out of Cornwall to gain a graduate level job in recruitment, as I feel there is far more opportunities for me in Birmingham

Favourite thing about working here so far?

I would say my favourite thing about working here so far would have to be meeting everyone in the office, it’s nice to see that everyone genuinely seems to get along very well and I’m looking forward to the first social event with everyone

What has surprised you most about being a Recruitment Consultant?

One thing that has surprised me about the job is, how important organisational skills are in the job and how much input each team member has in the team’s day to day running

What have you enjoyed most so far about your day-to-day work or training?

I would say I have enjoyed learning the lingo and what everything on the boards means, it’s kind of like learning a new language and everything makes a whole lot more sense now, as  by looking at the board you can see what each person is doing and why they’re doing it
