Senior Practitioner

Our client, based in South East London, is currently recruiting for a Senior Practitioner on a temporary contract for two months. Our client is a nationally recognized Charity and has been recognized one of the Sunday Times 100 Best Not-For-Profit Organisations to work for in 2020. They provide services to vulnerable people suffering from homelessness and mental health issues.

The position is due to start immediately on a full time basis. The hourly rate is negotiable based on experience for this position.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of three years’ experience in the sector and hold an Enhanced DBS within the last three years.

Duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Overseeing a service supporting 25 clients, responsible for the line management of 3 support workers, each holding a caseload of 8/9 clients each
  • Promote a service which is client-led, as clients are not required to engage with certain services, or hit certain milestones in order to secure or maintain accommodation
  • Support clients into their own self-contained accommodation, which could be a council property, a housing association property or a PRS property
  • Assist the Manager with escalated queries and taking the lead on complex issues
  • Manage and motivate staff to produce plans and targets for the service teams and monitor staff performance
  • Develop staff through support and supervision, identifying relevant training needs
  • Adhere to a person-centred approach, with the strength of the service being its relationships with its clients
  • Oversee some front line duties including support plans and risk assessments on a 1-2-1 individual basis
  • Provide advice on welfare benefits, ensuring that residents are aware of what benefits they can claim
  • Signposting service users to additional internal or external agencies if they require extra support

 

Experience required:

  • Managing staff
  • Overseen a supported living service
  • Worked with rough sleepers and those facing homelessness

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Staff management
  • Budget management
  • Carrying out staff appraisals
  • Experience working with a homeless client group
  • Working with service users suffering from mental health issues

Working hours:

  • 35 hours per week
  • Monday – Friday 9am-5pm
