Job description

​Our client, based in East London, is currently recruiting for a Senior Payroll Officer on a six-month fixed term contract. They are proud to have been awarded outstanding by Ofsted for personal development, behaviour and welfare.

 

The position is due to start as soon as possible and on a full-time basis, with a salary ranging between £31,922 to £33,680.

 

The ideal candidate must have experience of using iTrent and at least two years of working in a busy Payroll environment.

 

Duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Managing the end-to-end payroll for 250 monthly employees, ensuring the payroll was run accurately and with minimal errors

  • Supporting all aspects of iTrent administration including handling staff queries

  • Overseeing the day-to-day administration of payroll and to providing support to the HR team

  • Understanding and processing pay and entitlements of occupational sick pay and maternity schemes in line with SSP and SMP

  • Processing and inputting variable data into relevant systems in accordance with statutory and contractual obligations

  • Dealing with payroll and LGPS/TPS pension enquiries concerning payments made to employees

  • Ensuring that both LGPS and TPS returns are completed and submitted in a timely manner

  • Investigating and resolving complex payroll queries using the online payroll system

  • Completing financial references and returns from statutory bodies, building societies, etc.

 

Experience/skills required:

  • Experience using the iTrent system

  • At least two years’ experience working in payroll

  • Excellent understanding of statutory deductions and pension schemes

  • Ability to analyse and solve problems and exercise attention to detail

Working hours:

  • 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday

  • On-site everyday (possibility of one day working from home)
