Job description

We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in the East Midlands, who are recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor on a three-month temporary contract. The position is due to start immediately, on a full-time basis. The daily rate of pay is £200-250 a day on an umbrella basis. This role offers hybrid working with two to three days working from home available.

The ideal candidate must have experience of Quantity Surveying, ideally within a council setting and hold a full UK Driving License. 

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Working on a range of projects, covering new build housing, planned works and repairs works

  • Preparing full tenders and documentation for programmes of work

  • Tendering evaluations and providing advise on contract arrangements

  • Carrying out site visits and inspections, reporting back on findings with further requirements as appropriate

  • Inspecting and reporting on contract performance and quality

  • Valuing completed works and approving payment requests

  • Negotiating and agreeing final accounts

Experience required:

  • Experience required in Social Housing

  • Experience of Quantity Surveying

  • Experience working on high value projects

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Financial management and budgeting

  • Compliance and due diligence

  • Strong communication skills

  • Relevant degree or HND/HNC

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday, 9am-5pm
