Job description
We are currently working in partnership with a Local Authority based in the West Midlands, who are recruiting for a Prosecutions Lawyer to join the team on an initial 3-month locum contract.
The position is due to start immediately, and they're looking for someone on a full-time basis. The hourly rate of pay is circa £55 via an Umbrella company, but this may be negotiable. The role will require attendance at court.
The ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor (or equivalent), and be experienced managing varied prosecutions cases at magistrates court.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Managing a varied caseload of prosecutions and regulatory matters
Preparing and conducting prosecutions in the Magistrates' Court, including matters relating to trading standards, planning enforcement and other regulatory offences
Drafting and reviewing legal documentation, reports and committee papers, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and local authority procedures
Representing the authority at court hearings across the Greater Manchester area, managing cases efficiently within tight timescales
Experience required:
Experience required in Local Government
Experience managing varied prosecutions cases
Experience at magistrates court
