We are currently working with a Local Authority based in the South West, who are recruiting for a locum Property Lawyer on an initial four-month contract. The position is due to start immediately, and is offering an hourly rate of circa £55 p/hour via an Umbrella company.

There is potential for the role to be carried out remotely, but candidates able to attend office in the South West will be favoured. The ideal candidate will be a qualified Solicitor, and have significant experience working within Local Government.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Drafting and reviewing legal documents related to property transactions, including leases, licenses and purchase agreements
• Advising the local authority on property law matters, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and council policies
• Negotiating property transactions on behalf of the council, securing favourable terms and mitigating legal risks
• Managing disputes and litigation involving council-owned land or property, representing the authority in court or tribunal proceedings
• Conducting due diligence and title investigations to verify ownership, rights, and obligations before property acquisitions or disposals

Experience required:

• Experience required in Local Government
• Significant experience dealing with property legal matters
• Qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or Barrister

Working hours:

• 37 hours per week
• Monday - Friday
