Principal Accountant

Our client, a public sector body based in Warwick, is currently recruiting for a Principal Accountant on a temporary contract due to run until January 2023.

The position is due to start immediately on a full time basis and the rate is negotiable dependent on experience

Duties will include (but not limited to):

• Designing, implementing and controlling processing to prepare, report and monitor budgets
• Ensuring expenditure, income levels and capital financing is determined in accordance with legislative requirements
• Producing final accounts within agreed timetables and statutory deadlines
• Interpreting changes in accounting standards and advising senior management as required
• Developing accounting and budgetary systems to enhance services provided
• Acting as first point of contact for both internal and external queries
• Day to day supervision and management of Assistant Accountants, dealing with all budgeting and accounting matters

Experience required:

• Strong communication skills
• Confident answering queries from stakeholders of all levels
• Previous experience monitoring budgets against expenditure

Working hours:

• 37 hours per week
• Monday – Friday 9am-5pm
• Home working- only one day per month in the office
