Job description
We are currently working in partnership with a council based in the West Midlands, who are recruiting for a Planner on a temporary 6-to-12-month contract. The position is due to start immediately and offers a rate of £18 per hour on an umbrella basis.
The ideal candidate will have experience in scheduling repairs within a housing or property services environment, with strong organisational and communication skills. They will be able to prioritise workloads, manage changing demands and meet service targets while maintaining accurate records. Experience with KPIs, scheduling systems and contract frameworks such as NEC is desirable.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Scheduling and coordinating responsive repairs, planned maintenance and follow-on works across housing stock, ensuring appointments are delivered within service targets and agreed timescales
Liaising with residents, operatives, supervisors and contractors to arrange access, confirm appointments and provide timely updates on progress
Allocating jobs to appropriate trade operatives based on priority, location, availability and skillset to maximise efficiency and minimise travel time
Monitoring operatives' daily diaries and workloads, making adjustments to accommodate urgent repairs, emergencies and cancelled appointments
Raising, updating and tracking works orders through housing management and scheduling systems, maintaining accurate records and supporting KPI performance monitoring
Coordinating damp and mould inspections and remedial works, ensuring surveys and follow-on actions are scheduled promptly and completed efficiently
Working within NEC contract frameworks, ensuring all scheduling activities align with contractual requirements and service delivery standards
Experience required:
Proven experience scheduling and coordinating responsive repairs and planned maintenance within a social housing or property maintenance environment, ensuring appointments meet strict service targets.
Strong background in liaising with residents, contractors, operatives and supervisors to arrange access, confirm appointments and deliver works within agreed timescales.
Demonstrated ability to allocate and prioritise jobs effectively based on urgency, operative skillset, location and availability to optimise efficiency and reduce travel time.
Experience monitoring and managing operatives' diaries and workloads, with the flexibility to respond to emergencies, urgent repairs and last-minute changes.
Proficiency in raising, updating and tracking works orders using housing management or scheduling systems, maintaining accurate records and supporting KPI performance and service delivery standards.
Working hours:
37.5 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8am-4pm
