Job description

We are currently partnering a university, based in Birmingham, in regards to a permanent Information Governance Officer vacancy.

The post offers hybrid working, and a salary in the region of £32,000 - £35,000 with competitive benefits.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Promoting a culture of understanding and awareness of compliance regulations and good practice in information management, governance and security

  • Collaborating with Data Protection Task Group Members/Champions, to ensure the university meets its obligations under data protection and information legislation and regulations

  • Updating policies, procedures and guidelines to support information governance and data protection, to ensure compliance requirements are met and best practice standards are maintained

  • Implementing systems to deliver and monitor compliance, and reporting audit finding to the relevant Committee

  • Acting as the main contact for the ICO on issues relating to processing of Freedom of Information, personal data and e-privacy

  • Assisting the University in establishing frameworks to evidence data protection compliance, such as IS27001 and Cyber Essentials

  • Leading on training and awareness to improve the information governance and risk culture

Experience required:

  • Project Management

  • Developing services to provide Data Protection, FOI and EIR support

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Data Protection qualification or relevant experience

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday
