Independent Domestic Violence Advocate

Our client, based in Essex, is currently recruiting for a Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) on a permanent contract. Our client is proud to have played an integral part of the local South Essex community for over forty years. Over this time they have supported thousands of women and children to escape abusive their relationships.

The position is due to start in July on a full time basis with the annual salary for this role being £25,000.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years’ experience working within Domestic Violence.

Duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Delivering high quality and responsive support to a caseload of 20-25 Domestic Violence victims
  • Identify and assess the risks and needs of domestic abuse survivors using an evidence- based risk identification checklist
  • Focus on and prioritise high risk cases and provide a proactive, short to medium term crisis intervention service
  • Work within a multi-agency setting to address the safety of high-risk survivors and ensure that their safety plans are co-ordinated particularly through the Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conference (MARAC)

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Significant experience working with clients who have suffered domestic abuse
  • Experience providing advice to survivors of domestic abuse
  • Experience of case preperation and attening MARAC sessions

Working hours

  • 35 hours per week
  • Monday – Friday 9am-5pm
