Job description

We are currently working in partnership with an esteemed higher education provider based in Nottinghamshire, who are recruiting for a HR Shared Services Manager on a fixed-term contract until June 2024. The salary for this position will be between £43,000 - £54,500 pro rata (potentially up to £58,000 for exceptional candidates).

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Leading the HR Employment Shared Services Team which consists of the Resourcing Team, Employment Services, Central Support Services and HR MIS in the absence of their manager

  • Maintaining and developing existing HR transactional practices across the function to deliver a customer-focused, transactional service as part of the overall HR operating model to meet University needs

  • Establishing clear operational management processes that facilitate the efficient and effective delivery of transactional work to agreed SLAs and KPI’s, monitoring performance regularly

  • Ensuring managers and employees receive accurate and helpful guidance regarding HR policies and procedures

  • Establishing and maintaining a Shared Services Development Plan to prioritise, track and support delivery of identified service improvements, ensuring enhancements add value and deliver improvements to the customer experience

  • Developing the capability of direct reports, agreeing individual and team objectives that are stretching and aligned with the strategic aims of the service

  • Reviewing performance against objectives and ensure regular feedback mechanisms, informed by customers, that enable improvement

Expertise required:

  • Up to date knowledge of UK employment law

  • Effective management skills and high level of planning and organising skills

  • Experience of managing a HR team delivering a range of transactional HR services

  • HR management experience within a large, complex organisation

  • Influencing, coaching and advising senior stakeholders
