HR Officer

Our client, based in Birmingham, is currently recruiting for a Public Sector HR Officer on a permanent basis to join their team. This position is mainly remote working with occasional visits into the office.

The role is 30 hour per week, with flexible start and finish times Monday – Friday.

The ideal candidate will have experience in the HR sector and be working towards a CIPD Level 5 qualification.

Duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Ensuring the implementation of HR procedures, including ensuring accurate and appropriate record keeping in accordance with employment law, data protection legislation, recognised best practice and confidentiality
  • Assisting managers in dealing with HR matters such as disciplinary, capability, sickness absence, grievance issues, staff performance and employee wellbeing
  • Collating, recording and reporting of HR data, including absence and EDI data
  • Advising on and administer job descriptions and person specifications in liaison with line managers, offering advice and practical assistance, when necessary
  • Responsibility for the production of job adverts, both internal and external, as well as placing adverts, taking into consideration recruitment budgets, when necessary
  • Ensuring that exit procedures are followed and exit interviews are carried out for all departing staff
  • Providing basic training as required on HR matters and employment legislation

Experience required:

  • Experience within the HR sector
  • CIPD Level 5 qualification – working towards or completed

Working hours:

  • Monday – Friday
  • Flexible start and finish times
  • 30 hours per week
  • Remote – with occasional visits to the office
