Job description

Our client, a prestigious provider based in Cambridgeshire, is currently recruiting for a HR Assistant on a temporary basis for 3 to 6 months. This is an amazing opportunity to join an organisation who are renowned worldwide for being at the forefront of their sector.

This position is due to start as soon as possible, on a full-time basis, with rate of pay dependent on experience. The organisation is also able to offer a generous hybrid working pattern, with 4 days per week working from home.

Duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Oversee probation arrangements for the department by liaising with line managers, maintaining records, updating the system, and following up as required

  • Provide accurate annual leave calculations for all staff categories and maintain central record of leave taken

  • Monitor and record absence for all staff in the department using the appropriate systems (absences include sick, long-term sick, maternity/paternity, parental, unpaid or other leave), reporting findings to the HR Manager

  • Manage the leaver process for resignations including the HR System procedure. Support the facilitation of exit interviews and maintain record of responses

  • Provide support for the team on HR activities such as the annual appraisal cycle and learning and development training, providing staff with appropriate guidance and documentation, maintain department completion rates and take action where gaps occur

  • Provide guidance to staff in line with the organisation’s policies and procedures

  • Work within the shared HR inbox, acting as the first point of contact for general HR queries and escalating when required

  • Support all recruitment activity for the organisation, using the systems in place and following current best practice guidance

  • Ensure references and right to work checks are completed, as well as ensuring all new starter paperwork is returned and accordingly processed

Expertise required:

  • Excellent communication and organisational skills

  • Knowledge of Microsoft office and online communication tools to an intermediate level

  • Strong knowledge surrounding the concepts and principles of HR administration, including confidentiality and restrictions

  • Experience of providing first line HR advice to managers and staff

Working hours:

  • Monday to Friday

  • 36.5 hours

  • Hybrid working (3/4 days WFH)
