Job description

Our client, based in Birmingham, is currently recruiting for a HR & Recruitment Assistant on a permanent basis.

The position is due to start immediately with hybrid working (1/2 days home working) and a salary of £27,000 per annum.

The ideal candidate will have experience working within an education setting, and a previous experience of the end to end recruitment process.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing a proactive and efficient HR and Recruitment support service spanning all aspects of the employee lifecycle including resourcing, onboarding, learning and development, compliance, and issuing contracts
  • Managing the recruitment administration of new staff which will involve the collation of applications, production of invite letters, diary management and room booking
  • Co-ordinating interviews, liaising with candidates, and conducting all pre-employment checks including online checks, DBS and medical checks, reference requests, and Right to Work checks ensuring they are recorded appropriately
  • Liaising with line managers to ensure induction arrangements are in place for all new starters, Probationary Review documentation is completed and received, and fixed-term contracts are reviewed appropriately and in a timely manner
  • Being the first point of contact for HR queries, managing the HR Inbox and escalating queries to the Foundation HR Partner when appropriate

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Strong HR and/or recruitment administrative experience, ideally gained in an education setting.
  • Knowledge of HR policies and procedures and how to apply these to the business/education environment.
  • Experience of working as part of a busy, customer focused HR team.
  • Experience of resourcing, recruitment, and onboarding.
