Job description

We are currently partnering with a leading educational body based in Bedfordshire, who are recruiting for a HR Advisor to join their growing team on a permanent basis.

This is a full-time position with a salary band of £35,500 - £37,000 (subject to experience).

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide advice and guidance on all employee relations/change management matters to managers and staff - this will include, but is not limited to, disciplinary and grievance processes, absent management, redundancy, TUPE and performance and capability procedures

  • Carry out employee relations and change management activities to ensure that employee relations and organisational change processes are delivered professionally

  • Manage an employee relations caseload as directed by the Senior HR Advisor and provide regular reports as required

  • Ensure effective monitoring of absence management and referrals to Occupational Health are carried out

  • Monitor both short and long-term sickness absence, advising line managers and ensuring that staff are managed in accordance with the Absence Management policy, to enable return to work at the earliest opportunity

  • Support the development and implementation of the portfolio of standard letters and documents within HR

  • Assist with the updating of HR policies and procedures in line with legislation, ensuring that any relevant processes are aligned to any changes and that managers/staff receive appropriate briefings/training

  • Support the Principal and Recruitment Officer with the recruitment and selection processes as required, this may include attending interviews and training staff on interview skills and techniques

  • Manage and maintain contracts, personnel files and other employee information

Experience required:

  • Experience required working in education

  • At least five years’ experience of working in a generalist HR environment, to include employee relations and transactions at all levels

  • Able to demonstrate knowledge of work systems, equipment, process and the use of standard IT packages.

Expertise and qualifications required:

  • Good general standard of education

  • Graduate member of CIPD or working towards

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week

  • Monday – Thursday, 8:30am - 4:30pm, Friday 8:30am – 4:00pm
