Job description

Our client, based in London, is currently recruiting for a HR Specialist on a permanentbasis. Our client is a leading trade union with over 450,000 members.

 

The position is due to start as soon as possible on a full time basis. The starting salary for this position is £51,307 plus London Weighting (£4,140), if applicable.

 

The ideal candidate will have strong employee relations experience and be open to travelling to other sites when required.

 

Duties will include (but not limited to):

    Lead on the day-to-day operations of the employee relation matters of the human resources department and ensure the general legal compliance of the department

    Provide specialist knowledge and advice on legal proceedings against the organisation, and define a strategic defence, recommending or approving settlement of disputes where warranted on the organisations behalf

    Lead the processes of employee relations matters – grievance, disciplinary, absence management, capability, etc. and resolution processes including conflict resolution

    Implementing performance management interventions and supporting absence management processes

    Support the Head of People to continuously review and improve human resources practices and objectives that will provide an employee-oriented, high-performance culture

    Support and cover the full employee life cycle of HR

    Work with various departments, regions, and senior managers, assisting line managers to understand and implement policies and procedures

    Plan and deliver training, including inductions for new staff

    Support and cover other areas of HR including recruitment, training, policy review, job evaluation, HR Information and learning management systems

 

Experience required:

    CIPD L5 or CIPD L7 – desirable

    Strong employee relations experience

    27 days annual leave plus bank holidays

    Pension scheme; employee contribution of 7.9% and employer is 22.1%

 

Working hours:

    36 hours per week

    There may be requirement to occasionally work unsocial hours, including some weekend or evening work, when required by the role
