Job description

We are currently working in partnership with an educational body based in East London, who is currently recruiting for a HR Advisor on a temporary to permanent contract. The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis, with the salary ranging from £37,654 - £39,470 per annum.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience of coaching and challenging managers in the application of HR policies, procedures and practices and will ideally have worked within education previously

 

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing proactive and professional HR support on policies and procedures to all staff

  • Managing the organisations recruitment process to ensure fair, legal processes are followed to meet the staffing needs and financial demands of the organisation

  • Supervising and supporting the day to day operational function of the designated HR Assistant

  • Guiding and advising managers throughout formal disciplinary, grievance, capability, redundancy, sickness absence (short and long term), including attending hearings, taking minutes, and issuing all relevant paperwork relating to the process

  • Monitoring the quality of investigations and decision-making processes in relation to the above and make recommendations for improvements to systems and procedures

  • Participating as a senior member of the HR team and helping to formulate HR strategies, policies, plans and processes to ensure that appropriate levels of HR support, advice and guidance are provided

  • Maintaining HR records and the organisations computerised personnel database, including setting up and maintaining personal records, producing regular and ad hoc reports from the system and assisting with the development of the system

Experience required:

  • Experience of advising on a broad range of HR organizational development and change management

  • Experience of working in a unionized environment

 

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Good interpersonal skills

  • Excellent organizational skills and high attention to detail

  • Ability to plan and deliver work against tight deadlines to high standards of quality

  • Presentation skills
