Job description
We are currently partnering with an organisation in the Cambridgeshire area to recruit an HR Shared Services Advisor on a permanent basis. This role offers hybrid working (two days from home) and there is also an excellent opportunity for the successful candidate to be fully funded to complete their CIPD qualification up to Level 7.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced HR Shared Services Assistant/Advisor with strong stakeholder‑management skills, some ER experience and the confidence to provide clear, professional advice in a fast‑paced environment.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Acting as the first point of contact for managers, providing clear advice on employee relations matters including sickness, contracts, working arrangements and consultations
Responding to a high volume of HR enquiries via phone and email, ensuring clients receive timely, accurate and professional guidance
Drafting letters and documentation for informal and formal ER meetings, and attending hearings or meetings where required
Working collaboratively with HR, Payroll and Pensions colleagues to ensure a seamless and consistent service for schools and clients
Supporting HR Partners and Lead HR Partners by delivering HR activities, contributing to team development and driving continuous improvement
Providing accurate interpretation of employment legislation and advising on policies, best practice and complex HR matters, including attending client visits and formal meetings when appropriate
Experience and skills required:
Experience within a busy, fast‑paced environment, handling high‑volume ER casework
CIPD Level 3 (or above) and current CIPD membership
Strong ability to interpret employment legislation and provide accurate, compliant advice
Proven capability in building effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders, such as senior leaders, governors or managers
Confident in negotiating and engaging with trade union representatives
Comfortable working within established HR policies and procedures while maintaining a solutions‑focused approach
Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to use initiative and think creatively
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong ICT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office
