Job description

Our client, based in the West Midlands, is currently recruiting for a Housing Support Worker on a 12-week temporary to permanent contract.

The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis. The hourly rate is £14.70 per hour via an Umbrella Company.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with clients who have complex needs, hold an enhanced DBS carried out within the last year and also have access to their own vehicle.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Working with a caseload of 24-27 homeless individuals with a range of complex needs - including ex-offenders and refugees and offering them attentive advice and support

  • Conducting home visits around a patch of properties

  • Forming support plans based on individuals needs and carrying out risk assessments and fire risk checks

  • Writing and monitoring reports for instances such as repairs and health and safety

  • Assisting residents with Housing Benefit and Universal Credit claims

  • Organising repayment plans for any income or service charges

  • Liaising with external organisations and signposting individuals in need of further guidance and support

Experience required:

  • Working with vulnerable clients at risk or already homeless

  • Completing risk assessments and health and safety checks

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Be able to create and implement support plans

  • Strong knowledge of the housing and welfare benefits system to assist with repayment plans

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week

  • Monday – Friday, 9:00am-5:00pm
