Job description

We are pleased to be partnering with a Housing Association based in Shropshire who pride themselves in their innovation, and their ability to make a difference within the community.

They are in search of a new Housing Officer to join their team on a permanent basis. The annual salary for this position is £32,000 - £34,800 based on experience.

This will be a full-time position which offers the opportunity to work from home two days per week.

The ideal candidate will have access to a vehicle, experience in the housing sector and be confident in providing a tailored service to tenants from a range of different backgrounds.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing a patch of 650-700 properties within the Shropshire area

  • Offering effective housing management advice to tenants and leaseholders

  • Dealing with successions, tenancy abandonments, terminations and mutual exchanges

  • Managing low to medium ASB cases – mediating situations and taking witness statements

  • Preparing relevant paperwork and attending court when necessary

  • Focusing on income maximisation and monitoring rent accounts

  • Sorting lettings processes such as viewings and signups

  • Serving NOSPS/evictions in extreme cases

  • Conducting tenancy and estate audits and inspections to ensure tenant wellbeing

  • Enforcing tenancy agreements and aiming to reduce turnovers

  • Signposting tenants to external agencies to provide further support such as the police

Experience required:

  • Working one-to-one in a customer focused service

  • Dealing with complex housing management cases

  • Providing housing advice in order to sustain tenancies

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Risk assessment and management

  • Problem solving skills- negotiation and mediation

  • Operating within, and having a working knowledge of, Adult Protection and Safeguarding Children measures

Working hours:

  • 37 hours per week

  • Core office hours are 8:45am – 5:00pm Monday to Thursday and 8:45 am – 4:00pm on Friday

  • Working hours are flexible between 8:00am – 7:00pm
