Job description

Our client, based in Bedfordshire, is currently recruiting for a Housing Officer on a two-month temporary contract.

The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis, 37.00 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am-5pm. You will require a full UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle, the hourly rate is negotiable depending on experience and you must have a basic DBS dated within the last year.

The ideal candidate will have experience working as a generic Housing Officer, monitoring rent cases from start to finish, including evictions, and handling low level cases of ASB.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Managing a patch of 700 properties completing tenancy management duties, dealing with cases of ASB and ensuring safeguarding is adhered to

  • Completing tenancy audits and reviews and taking the appropriate follow up action

  • Carrying out visits to patch regularly and conducting estate walkabouts

  • Completing sign ups using the suitability assessment and affordability system

  • Dealing with all cases of low level ASB including noise and nuisance complaints

  • Responsible for taking witness statements, liaising with the police and attending court when required

  • Dealing with rent arrears cases and completing the rents process from start to finish

  • Working with residents to promote community involvement to help tackle cases of ASB

  • Referring customers to the correct support organisations and liaising with internal and external departments to ensure the correct support is provided

Experience required:

  • Able to convey complex information to customers and key stakeholders

  • Must be up to date with knowledge of Housing and related legislation

  • The ideal candidate will have attended court for cases of ASB

  • Making referrals to both internal and external organisations

  • Have a strong knowledge working rent based IT systems and dealing with arrears
