Job description
We are partnered with a well-known, growing, Housing Association who are recruiting a temporary Area Housing Manager to support the delivery of high‑quality, customer‑focused tenancy and neighbourhood management services across a geographically dispersed area of around 5,500 general needs homes.
The postholder will lead and manage a team of Housing Officers based across Exeter and Plymouth, working closely with internal teams, local authorities and partner agencies to sustain tenancies, manage risk and improve outcomes for customers and communities.
The role is predominantly hybrid/office based in Exeter, with regular travel to the Plymouth patch also required.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead, manage and motivate a team of Housing Officers to deliver effective tenancy and neighbourhood management services
Provide strong visible leadership, setting clear direction, maintaining a high‑performance culture and supporting staff development
Oversee tenancy management across the area, including tenancy breaches (non‑income/ASB), safeguarding concerns, hoarding, domestic abuse, tenancy fraud and unacceptable behaviour
Actively manage risk, ensuring compliance with internal controls, policies and legal requirements
Resolve customer complaints within agreed timescales, identifying trends and implementing service improvements
Work collaboratively with specialist internal teams and external partners to reduce tenancy failure and support sustainable communities
Build and maintain strong relationships with local authorities, elected members and partner agencies
Use customer feedback, performance data and insight to inform service planning and drive continuous improvement
Ensure fire and property safety actions are managed appropriately across all schemes in the area
Contribute to policy development, improvement initiatives and wider neighbourhood objectives
Operate in line with housing legislation, equality, diversity and human rights requirements, and GDPR expectations
Working hours:
37 hours a week
Monday – Friday
9:00 – 17:00
Skills, knowledge and experience required:
Significant experience managing or leading teams within social housing or a related sector
Strong knowledge of tenancy and housing management, including tenancy breaches and customer engagement
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Basic DBS check required
