Homeless Officer

Our client, a local authority based in Essex, is currently recruiting for a Homeless Officer on a six month temporary contract. The role will be 100% remote working initially.

The position is due to start immediately on a full time basis. The hourly rate is negotiable based on experience for this position.

The ideal candidate will have experience of the below.

Duties will include (but not limited to):

• Responsible for dealing with a caseload of single homeless clients, providing advice on housing options in line with relevant legislation
• Act as the first point of contact for homeless enquiries
• Make initial assessments and interview clients to determine their level of need
• Make complex Section 184 decisions, including during the relief stage
• Arrange suitable temporary/emergency accommodation for those in need
• Liaise with private sector landlords and mediate between family disputes to prevent homelessness

Experience required:

• Issuing complex Section 184s
