Exciting New Head of IT Position In Manchester

Role: Head of IT

Location: Manchester

Working Arrangements: 3 Days in Office and 2 Days From Home

Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 Depending on Experience

Core Responsibilities:

  • Managing the Group’s IT function, with overarching accountability for Group IT systems, processes, hardware and security.

  • Supporting Company Directors with developing and implementing IT strategy and investment, in line with business and environment needs.

  • Overseeing and delivering key internal IT projects, providing hands-on support with hardware, software and systems.

Key responsibilities

IT infrastructure and leadership

  • Develop Group IT function and architecture in line with business needs/priorities and future growth strategy, working closely with Company Directors and Senior/Operational Leadership Team.

  • Provide consultancy and advice on all IT-related topics across the entire Company.

  • Take overarching responsibility for the security of Group IT systems and data, ensuring that adequate mechanisms are in place to prevent cyber attacks and other threats.

  • Lead annual external IT security audit process and implementation of recommendations and certifications.

  • Monitor the performance of all IT services and communicate findings to Company Directors; proactively resolve any issues identified.

  • Oversee management of external IT suppliers, ensuring compliance with security requirements, processes, timelines and budget.

  • Take overall responsibility for IT-related components of the Business Continuity Plan; oversee regular updates and scenario testing, working with wider IT team.

  • Develop and lead internal communications regarding IT updates and training; liaise with clients and external parties where required.

  • Lead internal IT meetings, working closely with Company Directors to gain insight into business needs and priorities.

  • Provide reports and metrics to Company Board, as required. Lead and deliver large Company infrastructure projects (eg integrations).

  • Ensure all major IT projects are delivered to high levels of internal satisfaction and meet business objectives, timelines and budgets.

  • Advise Company Directors regarding future IT strategy, infrastructure and investment planning; prepare annual and 5-year IT strategic plan and technology roadmap.

  • Provide recommendations, guidance and support for AI and other innovative technologies/solutions to enhance efficiency across the organisation.

IT Support

  • Ensure an efficient, secure and reliable IT environment.

  • Oversee and support (where required) Group Microsoft 365 services (including, but not limited to, InTune/MDM/Autopilot, SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange, Teams and Azure AD).

  • Ensure all Group employees receive high-quality IT service and support, independent of geography.

  • Oversee and manage the resolution of IT Service Desk tickets, working closely with Support Engineers to ensure accurate tracking and documentation.

  • Provide effective second- and third-line support (and also support with first line tickets, if required).

  • Oversee equipment inventory and software licensing.

  • Oversee procurement of IT equipment and hardware, ensuring optimal supply timing and pricing.

Line management and training

  • Take overarching management responsibility for Group IT function; line manage members of the IT Team, fostering a collaborative and high performing environment that reinforces the ethos of the company.

  • Develop own skills, knowledge and competencies in line with business need; keep up-to-date with the latest technologies and advancements in the field.

  • Ensure end users are adequately trained on Company IT systems and security requirements, developing policies and processes as required.

  • Maintain own, individualised Training Plan and ensure line reports receive adequate feedback and training.

  • Attend training sessions on an as-needed basis to ensure development of core skills and competencies.

Person Specification

  • Degree in IT or STEM Discipline or equivalent work experience demonstrable over a number of years (Essential).

  • 5 Years+ Experience in an IT Management Role (Essential).

  • Microsoft 365 Infrastructure and Network Certifications (ITIL4 Certified) (Essential).

  • Driving Licnese and a willingness to be office based at least 3 day a week in the Manchester Area (Essential).

  • Experience of evaluating and implementing emerging technology solutions such as AI (Desirable).

  • Working experience in a healthcare, pharmaceuticals or medical environment (Desirable).

Competencies

  • Excellent Technical Knowledge with an emphasis on Microsoft 365.

  • Sound knowledge of Windows Operating Systems.

  • Ability to work across a large cross functional team.

  • Influence senior stakeholders and build relationships across all levels of the business.

  • Experience in managing organisational change.
