Job description
We are proud to be partnering a client within Higher Education, who are recruiting for a Data Protection Officer to join their team on a contract basis, for three months initially.
The role can be worked on a fully remote basis, and offers a day rate which is negotiable subject to experience.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Supporting the General Counsel and University Secretary in the provision of the University’s legal and statutory obligations in the fields of data protection (including other relevant information legislation) and compliance
Handling all data protection matters on behalf of the University, acting as the main point of contact
Prioritising appropriate responses for DPA, GDPR and FOIA requests, including the application of exemptions and exceptions
Reviewing the Universities Information Governance frameworks and strategies, and updating these for renewal in the new academic year
Dealing with all DPIA’s received, and releasing confidential/counselling papers to Authorities in respect of cases regarding mental health, sexual assaults and general allegations
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
Knowledge of public sector governance frameworks
