We are proud to be partnering a client within Higher Education, who are recruiting for a Data Protection Officer to join their team on a contract basis, for three months initially.

The role can be worked on a fully remote basis, and offers a day rate which is negotiable subject to experience.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

• Supporting the General Counsel and University Secretary in the provision of the University’s legal and statutory obligations in the fields of data protection (including other relevant information legislation) and compliance

• Handling all data protection matters on behalf of the University, acting as the main point of contact

• Prioritising appropriate responses for DPA, GDPR and FOIA requests, including the application of exemptions and exceptions

• Reviewing the Universities Information Governance frameworks and strategies, and updating these for renewal in the new academic year

• Dealing with all DPIA’s received, and releasing confidential/counselling papers to Authorities in respect of cases regarding mental health, sexual assaults and general allegations

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

• Knowledge of public sector governance frameworks
