Clerk of Works

Our client, based in Cardiff, is currently recruiting for three Clerk of Works’; one on a permanent basis and two on a fixed term contract for 6 months.

The position is due to start immediately on a full time basis. The salary is negotiable based on experience for this position.

The successful candidates must have the ability to read and understand Construction drawings, have knowledge of M&E, Bill of Quantities and Specifications.

Duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Delivering an extensive multi million pound programme of new build and refurbishment work to a University Campus
  • Monitoring & supervising Contractors on projects to ensure that all works are in full compliance with issued specification, drawings and other contract documents
  • Carrying out site surveys and provide the necessary written reports
  • Undertaking site visits to co-ordinate the installation work with other disciplines
  • Ensuring that all above items comply with codes of practice, health and safety and statutory requirements
  • Providing the Project Manager / Project Engineer with weekly progress reports including Health & Safety, weather conditions, quality of work and indicating any concerns over standards in workmanship and possible delays
  • Assisting in the valuation of materials and works carried out ‘on-site’

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Understanding of construction drawings
  • Understanding of the Bill of Quantities

Working hours:

  • 35 hours per week
  • Monday – Friday 9am-5pm
