Job description

Our client, based in East London, is currently recruiting for a Building Surveyor on a permanent contract. Our esteemed client houses around 250,000 people in more than 97,000 homes, primarily across London and the South East.

The position is due to start immediately on a full-time basis. The salary is competitive and negotiable dependent upon experience.

The ideal candidate will have experience working within social housing and hold at the minimum a relevant Degree or HND/HNC in Surveying/Construction or equivalent and relevant work experience. Chartered members (MCIOB/ MRICS) will be prioritised.

Duties will include (but are not limited to):

  • Providing building surveying skills and knowledge of construction methods

  • Overseeing major cladding replacement works on high- and low-rise properties

  • Applying CDM 2015 principles to tenders and contracts 

  • Contract administration and an understanding of contract law and excellent knowledge of standard form contracts

  • Managing large budgets, producing cash forecasts and processing payments

  • Writing reports and using presentation systems to communicate to all levels of stakeholders

  • Managing contractors and consultants to deliver within budgets and timescales

  • Carrying out fire remedial works and good understanding of ENS1 certificate

  • Showing relevant technical experience and professional qualification in Building Surveying

Experience required:

  • Undertaking major cladding replacement works on high- and low-rise properties

  • Versed in managing and running multiple complex building projects at the same time

  • Expert in building control and planning applications

  • Trained in applying CDM 2015 principles to tenders and contracts

  • Competent in managing large budgets, producing cash forecasts and processing payments

  • Understanding of contract law, standard form contracts and contract administration

  • Capable of managing contractors and consultants to deliver within budgets and timescales

Working hours:

  • 35 hours per week

  • Monday - Friday 9am-5pm (flexible dependent on meetings)
