Job description
We are currently partnering with an organisation based in Somerset, who are recruiting for a Building Control Surveyor to join their growing team on a temporary basis.
This is a 3-month rolling contract position with a rate of £59.58 per hour via UMB and the start date is subject to notice.
The ideal candidate must hold a Degree, HNC or degree equivalent in a construction related discipline and a membership of a professional body such as RICS, CABE or CIOB.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
Examining deposited plans for compliance with Building Regulations and Building Act requirements, conducting consultations with applicants, professional agents and consultative bodies, negotiating amendments and recommending approval or refusal
Providing pre-application advice to enquiries in relation to projects
Conducting site inspections of works in progress for compliance with Building Regulations under Full Plans, Building Notice and Regularisation procedures
Produce and maintain electronic records of site works which includes the production of letters, notifications, reports, completion certificates and other documents on the document storage system
Regarding potentially dangerous structures, attend emergency callouts (includes out of hours) responding to requests from Emergency Services, determining the scale and nature of emergency measures to make them and the public safe including issuing Statutory and demolition notices.
Skills, knowledge and expertise required:
Degree, HNC or degree equivalent in a construction related discipline
Membership of a professional body such as RICS, CABE or CIOB

There will be a need to attend site visits every day of the week, likely to be approximately 40-50% of working day, the remainder of the working day will be office based
