Our client, based in South West London, is currently recruiting for an Assistant Accountant on a permanent contract. They are proud to be an established Charity/Not-for-profit who are dedicated to tackling climate change.
The position is due to start in January 2021 on a full time basis, with 100% working from home until April 2022. The regional salary for this will be £27,596 and the London salary will be £30,754 to reflect London weighting.
The ideal candidate will be a part qualified accountant, or working towards an accounting qualification, with experience in working on year and month end routines.
Duties will include (but not limited to):
*Assisting with the audit process, including maintenance of year end working files and the timely provision of information
*Taking responsibility for key balance sheet accounts, including undertaking monthly reconciliations and month end routines
*Assisting in the preparation of statutory returns including Gift Aid, VAT, PAYE and corporation tax computations
*Keeping abreast of changes in legislation as well as internal aspects which have potential VAT effect
*Familiarising with accounting standards that govern the preparation of accurate financial accounts
*Working with other finance team members to prepare monthly management accounts as appropriate, including producing key month end journals and ensuring items are correctly coded
*Responsible for the production of the first draft management accounts pack for the senior leadership team/first draft quarterly Board accounts
*Supporting the Finance Business Partner in budgeting/forecasting including production of budgets/forecast templates and entry of those templates into the financial reporting system and being key contact for the IT/Facilities team on their budget forecast
*Covering the Finance Business Partner and the Senior Finance Officer when appropriate
Supporting the organisation, answering queries on financial matters and policy
*Part qualified accountant or actively working towards or looking to work towards an accounting qualification
*Experience in working on year and month end routines
*Well organised and able to prioritise your work and work to tight deadlines
*Good communication skills
*Experience in Word and Excel (pivot tables/v-lookups, etc)
Desirable skills, knowledge and attributes:
*Experience of SUN accounts including extractions/reporting via Q&A
*Knowledge of environmental organisations
*Experience of working within a fundraising operation
*Motivation and drive to build a career in finance
*Proactive, efficient problem solver with a curious mind
*Able to work under pressure and to handle challenging situations
