Customer Services Officer

Our client, based in South East London, is currently recruiting for a Customer Services Officer on a 6 month Fixed-Term Contract. Our client is a small housing association, which works closely with the community to provide homes for families and single people, some of whom suffer from mental health and learning disabilities.

The position is due to start immediately on a full time basis. The salary is £27,000 based on experience for this position.

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of two years’ experience in the sector, however this requirement can be flexible.

Duties will include (but not limited to):

  • Deliver an excellent customer service to residents both on the phone and in person, dealing with their queries, concerns and complaints
  • Assist the Tenancy Services Officer to maximise income by minimising rent arrears through a proactive and holistic approach
  • Advise applicants and residents on eligibility and applications for housing benefit/Universal Credit and to refer residents to the Resident Support Officer where appropriate and possible
  • Post payments to rent accounts and the cashbook, liaise with the Finance team, ensure rents are posted correctly and missed payments are chased early on
  • Assist the Tenancy Services Officer and the Maintenance & Estates Officer with the effective management of the voids and allocations process, and re-let empty homes within target times
  • Work closely with the Maintenance & Estates Officer, taking maintenance requests and issuing works orders and post inspections as appropriate
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance & Estates Officer in monitoring and reporting on Health and Safety compliance, ensuring that records are kept up to date
  • Log and follow up on any resident satisfaction surveys and carry out random customer service surveys
  • Provide administrative support and cover to the operational teams as required

 

Experience required:

  • Customer Services
  • Minimum two years’ experience within Social Housing

Skills, knowledge and expertise required:

  • Good administrative and IT skills
  • Organisation
  • Advise applicants on applications for housing benefits
