Coronavirus Crisis – Supporting the Vulnerable
COVID-19 has changed the world as we know it. We’ve all been affected in one way or another, but offering our support to others is the most important thing we can do.
Our organisation has been busy in facilitating employment for key workers who support vulnerable people in society, especially the homeless. Government actions are in place for rough sleepers, with a plan for 45,000 ‘self-contained accommodation spaces’ to be sourced and allocated. There are talks of vacant hotels to be requisitioned into homes for those without a roof over their head. These measures have come under a national action plan designed to help people to self-isolate.
We have also been assisting in the provision of benefit specialists, in light of the uptick in universal credit applications. With nearly half a million successful applicants, there has been a demand in staff needed, in order to process applications. Urgent action is necessary so that capacity is boosted and applications move forward. This will really help the jobless and the vulnerable.
Here at James Andrews, we are proud to focus our efforts on making positive contributions to getting through the crisis we are facing. Now more than ever, it is important to reach out and help one another. Doing our bit for the community has never been so vital.
